|What is the European Capital of Culture?|
The European Capital Of Culture is a title granted by the European Parliament, by electing a method as an approach and mutual understanding between citizens of the European Union. The project was launched on 13th June 1985 at the initiative of the Greek Culture Minister, Melina Mercouri.
The European Cultural Capital designation is awarded to two European cities each year, during which they have the opportunity to showcase their cultural activities in relation to the rest of Europe and with it the possibility to transform their cultural structures through the participation and cooperation with the other European Countries.
